Shark monitoring

One of Gill 'Ewa Lands' tenants is the University of Hawai'i School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology, which has erected a 12-foot-tall mast on a hilltop with a receiver to track the movements of tagged sharks in the ocean off Leeward O'ahu. Other remote sensing stations are located around the island.
